Kaleidoscope

The strongest part of my visual is the fact that all of the three images is that there is depth when you look at them. I think that the depth is the strongest point because without depth the image would look flat and that would not be very appealing to the eye. I think that the symmetry could be improved a little bit in the images. This could be improved by using the ruler tool to show where to place the images to be a little more symmetric. When I started making the first kaleidoscope I didn't use the ruler tool and I feel like it's not as symmetric as it could be. And I also just realized that in the second photo you can see a little point where there is a little craftsmans error.

I used a lot of different tools to create these images. I used the lasso polygon tool to cut the image, and the move tool to be able to rotate the pictures. I used the create a new layer tool many times in order to achieve making new layers without having to repeat the same steps over and over. I also used the ruler tool. I used the lasso polygon tool to cut my original square image into a triangle and to get rid of the other half of it. I used the move image tool to, of course, move the images where I wanted to but I also used it to rotate the photo in order to create the kaleidoscope. The copy layer tool came in handy a lot. It made making the kaleidoscope a little bit easier and less tedious for me. When I used the ruler tool it helped me create a more symmetrical image.

The easiest part of this assignment was thinking of something to create and the hardest past was actually creating it. I had a lot of trouble getting my ideas out through the pictures I created. I tried creating different kaleidoscopes many times but I wasn't happy with the outcome which caused me to become a little behind on my work. In the end I got 3 kaleidoscopes done that u was happy with, but if I could do this assignment again I would try to do more intricate patterns. I would rate myself a 9 out of 10. This is because I definitely could have improved some of my skills but I did try very hard to complete this and I put a lot of effort into it.

Letter Composition

I believe that the strongest part of my finished artwork is the G’s that are faded within the background of the picture. I think that this creates depth in the picture. I also think that the colors I used were a strong part of my artwork, the colors go together very nicely. I think that I could be a little bit more creative when I create artwork. I feel as if my work is a little bit plain. I could have also improved using the rule of thirds. I wasn’t really focused on using the rule of thirds, I was more focused on creating something that looks nice.
The tools I used to create this artwork was the move tool, the type tool, the gradient tool, and I used different opacities for the letters. I used the gradient tool to set up the gradient effect on the background of the image. I used the type tool to place the letter on the background. After using the type tool I used the move tool to move the letters around, making some of them tilted. Once I placed the diagonal letters where I wanted I added the two larger G’s in the background and changed the opacity of them.

I think that the easiest part of this activity was the whole concept of it, having to use only one letter to create was pretty easy for the most part. The most difficult part was figuring out how to use the different tools in photoshop. It is still very new to me and I feel as if I didn’t utilize all of the tools in a way that benefited me. Once I get more familiar with photoshop it will show in my artwork. I demonstrated the objectives by creating an image using only one letter, and playing around with different tools. If I could do this assignment again I would make a more creative piece of artwork. I would try to use more tools. I would rate my effort as a 9. I redid it a couples times because I wasn’t happy with how it looked. I tried to be creative, but I don’t feel as if I was as creative as I could be.
